Christine is wholeheartedly dedicated to the health and wellbeing of all our clients. Her approach is centred around helping you maintain and improve your strength and balance while revitalising and calming your body through yoga postures and breathwork. Whether you join us in a class, a small group, or for a personalised one-to-one session, we take a holistic approach, addressing your unique bio-psychosocial needs to support healthy ageing.
Our yoga, meditation, and wellbeing sessions blend various techniques, including yoga asanas (postures), guided meditation, and breathwork. These practices foster pratyahara (withdrawing the senses from the external world) and pranayama (yogic breath and energy), allowing you to reconnect with your mind, body, and spirit on a deeper level.
Chris began her career as a nurse in the Royal Air Force, where she developed a passion for understanding trauma-related brain injuries. This initial interest expanded to include a wide range of acquired brain injuries and intensive rehabilitation.
Throughout her career, Chris has been dedicated to helping individuals navigate complex bio-psychosocial challenges, whether they face struggles with motivation or resilience. As an Advanced Motivational Interviewer, she specialises in creating personalised rehabilitation and re-enablement care plans tailored to individual needs.
Her expertise in the ageing process and brain function led her to qualify as a Specialist Nurse Practitioner in Gerontology, focusing on Dementia Care. As a Dementia Care Mapper, Chris has devoted herself to understanding and supporting those affected by dementia. She also created the MOT (Motivational Occupational Tool) for lifestyle choices, which she has effectively utilised both with individuals and in group settings within nursing and residential care homes.
With extensive experience leading interdisciplinary teams in health and social care, Chris has a track record of helping individuals reach their personal health and wellbeing goals. For ten years, she studied to develop a deep appreciation for the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of yoga. This journey led her to complete a Yoga Teacher Training Diploma and sparked her passion for the body’s energy centres. She went on to earn a Diploma in Chakra and Aura Healing, and is also a Reiki Healer, expanding her approach to holistic wellbeing.
Taking the traditional yoga, slowing it, softening it even further, to accommodate individual limitations. We encourage everyone to work at their own pace without stressing or over- committing. Again, this style of yoga is suitable for everyone whatever their age or previous experience, including complete beginners.
For those who are looking to increase strength and balance we do dynamic Yoga & Well-being classes with optional weights.
A primarily seated practice incorporating similar yoga asanas (postures), and guided meditation as our other classes, and also focusing on movements which have become restricted due to limitation of overall activity (e.g. fingers, neck, knees and hips). Where appropriate, we use the chair to help with standing postures and balancing, depending on the individual capabilities and needs of the group members.
Whether you're looking to improve your health and wellbeing, find relaxation, deepen your breath, or strengthen the mind-body connection, yoga can be a transformative start. We'd love to hear from you! Feel free to reach out through our website or give me a call to explore the best options for you.
